Artwork of the Month (July26)

"Puffin" by Elaine Winter,
Acrylic, 54x44cm Framed

Chosen by Chris Godsave:
" I met this painting at the Societies '25 Lightbox Exhibition. The clever brushwork brings motion and seems to reflect a Puffins' movement of quick corrections, smooth glides and sudden turns. I feel it gives a sense of connection to the bird."

The Artist comments...
" This was produced at a workshop with Jamel Akib, I tried to capture not just the bird’s form, but the instant of motion, the rhythm of flight, how the viewer’s eye should travel with the gesture, choosing energetic colour and sweeping strokes to make the bird feel present and connected to the surrounding space.
The picture won the Themed Competition at the Frimley and Camberley Society of Art Annual Exhibition."
